Chaplain (Corrections)
About the Role – Part Time - 3 days per week
Join our Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care team, providing compassionate spiritual and pastoral support within a corrections facility. You’ll work directly with clients in custody, supporting them, their families, and staff through times of challenge and reflection. You’ll lead Christian services, facilitate moments of reflection, and provide guidance tailored to the unique environment of a corrections setting. You’ll help embed spiritual wellbeing into daily practice while modelling our Christian values with warmth, respect, and authenticity. Collaborating with local faith communities you will also coordinate "Breaking Free", BaptistCare's post-release mentoring program, journeying with men as they transition from prison back into the community.
About you:
You are a compassionate and resilient spiritual care professional with experience in corrections or similar complex environments. You can build trust quickly, listen deeply, and offer guidance with empathy and discretion. You are confident leading Christian services and reflections, working collaboratively with diverse teams, and supporting people from all walks of life while upholding our Christian values.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy / pastoral care OR tertiary theological qualifications with a willingness to undertake chaplaincy / pastoral care specific training within the first 12 months of employment
- Minimum of 12 months previous experience in chaplaincy or pastoral care
- Ability to recognise and meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of customers by designing, delivering and evaluating person-centred spiritual care initiatives, in accordance with professional codes and standards of conduct
