House Parent - Tumbelin Farm

About the role – Part Time Maximum Term Contract until 30/6/26

As a House Parent at Tumbelin Farm, a live-in residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program for young people, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day. You’ll create a safe, nurturing, and home-like environment where young people can heal and thrive, using a genuine “doing life with” approach to build strong relationships and model Baptist Care’s Christian values. By supporting young people’s social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual wellbeing, and fostering positive routines and shared responsibilities, you’ll help shape a strong, respectful home culture in collaboration with colleagues and community partners.

Shifts: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Nights – 4:30pm to 8:30am 

About you:

You’re compassionate, patient, and a natural role model who builds trust and connection. With strong interpersonal and communication skills, you create a structured yet welcoming home environment. You’re adaptable, organised, and skilled in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and fostering positive relationships. Your resilience, emotional intelligence, and commitment to restorative practices help young people feel safe, valued, and empowered.

You will also have the following skills and experience:

• Training – Safe Food Handling or equivalent
• Training – Youth Mental Health First Aid
• Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk young people with complex needs within a restorative practice framework
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their families
• Understanding of barriers to change which affect young people with complex needs
• Well-developed interpersonal skills both verbal and written
